PART ONE - Sinful Deal
I was minding my own business, using my skill to win enough money at the blackjack tables to pay off my student debt, when I noticed someone else was minding my business, too.
He was hot, he looked ultra-rich, and he had no reason to notice me. So why was he stalking me from table to table? I thought I might be in trouble for winning too much.
I had no idea how much trouble it would turn out to be.

MY OPINION
Smart and
provocative, this little morsel is perfect to entice the appetite for the big
story it introduces. The main characters speak in their own voices which really
makes it more real to me. Tara is genious-samrt when it comes to playing cards,
but her debt is so high that she can't refuse the god-like temptation named
Marc who proposes a sinfully appealing proposition.
Even though
is so short, this first installment manages a great balance between plot and
couple potential.
There is
enough chemistry between Tara and Marc to giggle at things to come. They won't
be able to stop it, I'm sure. What's more, the fluid writing is capable of
presenting winning methods about cards and poker in an interesting fashion and
spark that competitive strike in a reader who has never played a hand in her
life.
So, I'm
intrigued to see the transformation in Tara from a mouse into a sophisticated
player, and I also want to learn more of Marc's game and see if he holds as
many secrets as it seems.
It was a deal I couldn’t resist.
Billionaire Marc Andretti, former pro poker champion, picked me to mentor for the pro Texas Hold’em tour, and I was supposed to make enough money to pay off my student loans.
So why am I worried? Well, for one thing, I’m finding it hard to keep my hands off him.
Something’s got to give, and I hope it won’t be my self-control…
MY OPINION
It was playfully
entertaining to see Tara's inner struggle between her emotional response to the
hotter-than-Adonis card-player master and her intent to keep their pact
professional.
I loved the
plot twist that arises from an ultimatum on Marc's part. It rose the
temperature all around.
One thing I
do miss is more detail in the scenes. For instance, what each character
glimpses and interprets from the other's facial and body language. It would
enhance the experience.
Then, the
explosive scene at the end took me by surprise. It was hot, fast and hard, but
well... so sudden that it came on as too soon and with not enough build-up. I
wanted to relish for longer! Anyway, it was fun. And now, how are they going to
deal with it? So curious!
PART THREE - Hard Hand
I had made a deal with the Devil.
This particular devil was Billionaire Marc Andretti, former pro poker champion, my dream lover, and as I discovered the hard way, someone who took orders from the Mob.
I’d had enough of his secrets and lies.
So why couldn’t I get enough of HIM?

MY OPINION
HARD HAND is
getting tougher on all accounts. Tara is feisty in this part, learning new
tricks on the gambling tables and behind bedroom doors. Even Marc is impressed
with her prowess. It was fun to see his reactions when he feels more connected
to her, relishing their relationship on borrowed time.
There are a few
surprises as Marc's past starts to catch up with him and Tara finds out the
hard way.
The mage is
getting more serious and detailed, which is becoming exciting to read about.
And that sexiest-of-all intimacy at the end was also a great addition.
PART FOUR - Surrender the Bet
Better the Devil you know than the Devil you don’t.
I didn’t know Marc anymore. Where was the charming man who won my heart? The on again off again nature of our personal relationship wore me out, but his slightest touch brought me back into his arms, helpless to withstand his power over my desires.
Now he has banished me.
Must I really give him up forever?

MY OPINION
Oh, the
feelings are running free now. Most of the story is told from Tara's POV, which
allows to feel all her abandonment, her need for an aloof Marc, and the
unavoidable link she now has both to the game and her elusive mentor.
I liked it a
lot when there is a rift and what she does after because when they come
together again, there are fireworks!
I'm not sure
how I feel about Mark, I want to like him and he's showing some attachement to
Tara, but he's a hard nut to crack ;o) In addition, his baggage is as thrilling
as dangerous.
Poor Tara is
so in love, she just doesn't know how to give up. Though that stubbornness is
what makes her such a good poker player, right? Anyway, this installment has
one of the saddest endings in the series.
PART Five - Final Table

I was on my own.
My friend, my coach, my lover – Marc – was lost to me. And worse, if I wanted to keep playing toward the World Championship, I would face him across a poker table sooner or later.
Could I win against him at our game, when I’d lost the only thing I wanted from him?
What will be the final outcome?

MY OPINION
This is it,
the grand finale, the hottest bet and it's surprising to say the least. I was
on edge with the change of scenery and that heart-breaking severance between
implacable Marc and so-in-love Tara.
Finally, we
get to see some strong feelings from this tied-up man, but they don't serve to
ease up this impossible relationship as trouble brews big time.
Hidden
feelings, a poker tournament and mafia crime all collide to push this couple
together for steamy times that were long overdue. I didn't see the plot twist
coming, but it was fun and sexy, though I missed a more public outcome and more
action on the poker tables.
Overall, the
serial is very original, well-researched about gaming techniques, and a whole
lot sexy. I'm gonna miss this world!
