New serial by wonderful Louise Bay

When I started reading this book, I felt like unwrapping an exotic gift. Ever since I read The  Empire State's series, I was enamored with the author's writing style and her sense of sensuality. I wanted more: more passion, more romance, more couple time.

Now, a new serial is out.

Curiosity has accompanied me all throughout the reading. I kept wondering what the title refers to. I like the setting in this novel. Harry and Haven meet on the job. Haven is ambitious and wants to prove she can do a great job. Meanwhile, Harry seems to be there as a favour to her boss, not really needing to work for a living. That's a hurdle between them from the very start.

Haven is driven but doesn't manage well her emotions. That makes for very quirky and funny dialogues. On the other hand, Harry is much more than the rich boy he appears to be. I love it when a man has projects, a sense of family and is in control of himself. I think this man is going to be worth knowing.

It strikes me that Haven is an interesting choice of character. She might not be easy to like at first and she has issues with people over this, but I believe everyone deserves a chance to prove their worth. Besides, she's aware of her attitude and her imperfections turn out to be quite endearing. If Harry finds her appealing and bets on her, so if he's willing to do that, I'm all in favour to do it myself ;o)

After all, she's had it  tough it life. Despite appearances, both Haven and Harry have more in common than what they think, and it was sweet to watch how they start knowing each little by little, forming a bond over small details that carry a lot of meaning. Slowly, forced to work together on a magazine article about a rising Hollywood star, their interaction opens them up to each other.

When the first passionate moment happens, it's sudden and unexpectedly hot. All I could think about was, please, continue. And they do! Although not right away. First, they develop their relationship. I believe there are many layers to both characters and just a few of them start unfolding in this episode. I really loved the sweet determination Harry/Jake shows to become closer to Haven, how he lowers her defenses. I loved how she melts under his seductive charm despite her previous experiences in life. It all felt real, palpable, true. That's why I cried a little in my heart when Haven suffers a severe emotional blow at the end.

I have so much hope for this couple. In the author's capable hands, I'm sure they'll have a rewarding, albeit hard journey towards happiness. And I'm so looking forward to travelling alongside with them :o)

USA Today Bestselling Author Louise Bay writes sexy, contemporary romance novels – the kind she likes to read. Her books Faithful and Hopeful are stand-alone novels although there are some overlapping characters. Bestselling The Empire State Series of novellas starts with A Week in New York. My next series is What the Lightning Sees.
Ruined by romantic mini-series of the eighties, Louise loves all things romantic. There's not enough of it in real life so she disappears into the fictional worlds in books and films.Louise loves the rain, the West Wing, London, days when she doesn’t have to wear make-up, being on her own, being with friends, elephants and champagne. She loves to hear from readers so get in touch!
