My first taste of Hansel

As a lover of serials, I couldn't say no to tasting HANSEL, by Ella James. Have you read it, book buddies? I'm so intrigued by this concept!

When a fairy tale goes all wrong, we get a hell of a good story. I was expecting something appealing from Ella James, she never disappoints.

This first glimpse into the Hansel serial, though, has surprised me. It's bewilderingly naughty and moving.

Horror and doomed love mix in a provocative way in Hansel. Under that name, there's a tale of abduction, sexy and longing.

I was hooked by the mysterious way the plot unfolds. Leah is trying to celebrate her sister's impeding wedding when she confronts a trauma from her recent past. She can't believe her eyes when she finds Hansel, the boy she hasn't been able to forget along with some miserable memories of kidnapping, in the most unnerving circumstances.

Interspersed with flashes from their traumatic and criminal past together, Leah and Hansel's present paths revolver closer to each other in a covert fashion. It was so frustrating that they couldn't face each other, but it also made their ambiguous reunion so heightened by lust, fear and hidden needs.

I loved Hansel and Leah's first twisted encounter. It was hot, bittersweet, perverted and sensual, beautifully sad too. The whole story feels like a modern fairy tale written by Poe high on lust. 

That ending, so full of hopelessness, is perfect to entice the need to read, and savour, more. Who is Hansel? What happened to both of them in that insane place? How are they going to reconcile when they are both broken? I want to find out!
