This is a very entertaining combo of thriller and erotic romance. It's also the perfect vehicle to explore the world of BDSM, slave training and kinky lifestyle. It's intense, but it actually paints this kind of relationship with respect.

It was eye-opening to me in the way that it provides a shocking but illustrative start to how a woman would be trained to become a willing sex slave. The reader becomes Danielle, sensual but innocent in those ways. She harbours hidden longings secretly bonded to a man she craves since she was a teenager, but also despises because he was responsible for a family tragedy.

The best thing of this plot is that she enters his training programme not on her own accord. Mysterious men have kidnapped her stepmother, forcing Danielle to lie and spy for them.

To me, this is a really provocative and arousing premise. It made me really look forward to finding out so many things. For example, would she succeed in her spy category despite her inexperience? Would her Master hurt her because she wasn't prepared for this double-edged world? Or destroy her when he found out she was deceiving him? What about the kidnappers? Would they kill her even if she accomplished her mission? Oh, so many questions, and they were all answered in unexpected and wonderful ways :o)

Without any hesitation, I confess this story has enthralled me. I'd have liked to read Cole's perspective, oh the Master!, but even without it, it has all worked wonderfully. Danielle's training goes forward slowly through classes, scenes and detailed possibilities in the BDSM lifestyle. The narrative is very graphic and will linger in your mind for a long time.

At the same time, Danielle plots to get the information as commanded by her stepmother's kidnappers. It was thrilling and dangerous. The most tantalizing part is the intimacy she shares with Cole. He's aloof, professional, and that hurts her, but he cannot deny his attraction. The wax scene is really memorable. And it's followed by a rich, mind-blowing chain of scenes that become more original and arousing as the plot thickens. Surprises keep coming from all corners such as scary things related to the criminals that have cornered Danielle into this lie, sensuality between an increasingly interesting Master and her. I also loved the scene with Logan when he asks Danielle questions to ascertain what makes her tick. Artful.

I was disgusted by the villain of the story as much as I was intrigued by the criminal plot. As soon as it was swiftly dealt with, the main tension point focuses again on a personal obstacle that threatens Cole and Danielle's happiness. The, the author throws more plot twists on the unsuspecting reader and keeps building the stakes, along with extremely steamy scenes that are not to be forgotten.

I loved the ending and I'm very satisfied with this hot cocktail of romance, thriller and voyeuristic BDSM sexiness.

I can't say I've read any books with a premise like the one in TAINT, by S. L. Jennings. Original to start with, and then some.

My opinion of TAINT

The premise is downright naughty and provocative, but the actual story reads as a nice, sweet romance. Told entirely from a man's perspective, it's the tale of a hard trainer of women who lack sex-appeal to keep their husbands from straying to other women's attentions. His harsh, erotic game is put to the test when one of his clients proves to be so endearing and tempting that he starts breaking his rules... in earnest.

The training sessions at the secret resort Justice Drake runs are quite entertaining. There's not much physical contact between the main characters but some arousing moments do shine. It's even better this way because that makes their growing attachment more meaningful.

As the story progresses, the lessons become more brazen and funny, and the romance starts shining through. Justice Drake may be a hard, brutal and selfish man, but his relationship with Ally is so sweet, so real, and beautifully described by the author as he develops feelings of all kinds for a woman he doesn't believe he deserves. It's impossible, stupid, and it shows in his denial of it. I really liked how they connect, the jokes, the friendship. Then, the eroticism that makes your blood sing. That happens too ;o)

Even though he's callous at times and his past is more than questionable, I fell in love with how Justice falls in love with Ally. The author describes his feelings and thoughts, his irresistible need to find a woman who can love him, in a passionate way that really moved me. It's a long while till the characters reach a physical moment together, but it's so worth it!

Their love is impossible. A rich married woman with social obligations and one mercenary stranger who knows secrets and knows secrets. Ah, what secrets they are! An explosive plot twist shatters everything at the end, full of hatred, surprises and deep, wild emotions. I loved it all. I won't tell you if there is a happy ending though. It was fantastic, that's for sure. However, I'd have added a longer chapter to those final moments. Nevertheless, it was such an original, poetic and funny story that I'm now eager to read Heidi's unconventional novel next.

Hey, book buddies, how are your doing this week? Any interesting books you'd like to recommend? Or new recipes you've tried? I'm all in either way ;o)

Today I want to share my opinion about MORE, by Lea Griffith. It's a contemporary romance high in thriller and sexy BDSM elements.

What attracted me at first was that the female character is blind. I was curious as how that would affect the romantic relationship and the way the author would reflect it on other aspects of the story.

On the one hand, Tobias is a haunted man. He's reining in his dark urges to dominate because he thinks they're too much for Ruthie. He's confronted one night with her own submissive desires. However, he loves her too much to hurt her even when she's asking for a deeper commitment.

I really liked the prologue because it shows the longing of both characters, her complete surrender and his struggle to stop himself from going too far. That's why it hurt more when he rejected her. I felt all those painful emotions.

I also liked that, despite a long absence, she shows up to reclaim her man. She's all fire and compliance, a heady mix Tobias finds hard to resist. I understand why he denies them both, but I really wanted to know what they were capable of doing together once they were free to explore this new level of intimacy. He pushes hard in one direction, and she retaliates pushing harder for the forbidden pleasures he keeps from her.

Besides this war, there's also a bunch of characters that interact with the protagonists. I think they're having their own story told. I'm particularly intrigued by Dante as well as Sol, a secretive man in search of a woman he hasn't met but is in danger.

Also, Ruthie is a painter and blindness has made her stand out from other artists. That's when a side plot comes into play about a dangerous man and his desire for her to paint on commission.

There are several interesting points in the novel. Ruthie is remarkably willful and strong for a submissive. Even though Tobias denies them both for a long time, when he finally relents, it takes him a log of coaxing and teaching to turn her instincts into a proper obedience to his demands. It was a very entertaining process.

Despite the fact that the writing style was too descriptive for my taste, I was engaged in the story because it entailed the discovery of Dom/sub mechanics, a violent Mafia plot and the poetic world of painting.

All in all, it's an enjoyable story full of stubborn love, sacrifice, sensuality and a peek at other cool characters' plot lines.

Three years ago

Excitement thrummed through Ruthie’s body, matching the rhythm of the music coming from Tobias’s house and setting fire to her blood. She’d had Stanton bring her here tonight. Tobias had asked her to wait for him, told her he had business to attend for her brother, Jeremiah, and then he’d come to her. I'm wild about the PLAY ME serial

When I had the chance to join this tour for the PLAY ME serial, I thought it would be fun. Oh, mama, after a few pages, I was all hot and bothered and glued to my e-reader like melted honey ;o)

MY OPINION OF THE PLAY ME SERIAL

Funny, vindictive and tough, that's how I like my heroine. And the first five minutes reading this novella show me exactly that's how Aria is like.

She manages to convey her job and why she's doing it at the same time the conflict starts to take root.

Vegas, a waitress, a Russian billionaire who won't take a no for an answer. That's a recipe for disaster, but Aria won't stand meek before an idiot no matter how rich he is or how desperately she needs the job. I loved that situation!

Then Sebastian is introduced. How do you mix a manager of a casino and a good, sexy man? Sebastian is the answer. I was in love with him after a paragraph ;o)

The situation that brings them together is messy and dubious. She craves control when everything in life has stripped her of it. Now, it's up to Sebastian to take her job away but he's nothing like she could have expected from a rich, powerful man. He's smart and so clever that he realizes the only way she will trust him enough to accept his control will be if he relinquishes it first to her. So the love games being!

I was fascinated by the sheer tension of their first encounter. It's dripping with barely contained attraction and psychological strategy. A tantalizing question from Sebastian closes this arousing first part.

OMG. The passion is blinding. The narrative is engulfing, it had me as if I were possessed, oblivious to the real world. I couldn't breathe for thirty pages straight! I'm laughing out loud right now with the white hot intensity of this couple's lovemaking. Gorgeous, deep, mind-blowing.

I thought Sebastian was a good man, but he was hiding a secret agenda. He was planning to claim Aria in a way that goes through her senses into her very soul. I even learned a few things about the different states a person can fall into when the intimacy reaches extreme places. Wow, I'm really impressed with the effect this story is having on me.

After their wildly disconcerting connection during their intimate encounter, Sebastian is showing a caring side that Aria is fearful to trust. In particular, because she craves it, but she's fought hard to be free from interference or dominance so she fights him all the way. What if he finds out about her past? What if she loses her job? I felt every emotion, every concern and every longing she had. It was so intense and sensitive at the same time. I didn't know that what happens after that kind of intimacy could be described in such a way.

In this third part, there is more that "just" life-altering sexy times. Family secrets start pouring out, including a new plot entailing Sebastian's past. The cliffhanger ending was out of this world. What? Now I have to know it all before I take my next breath!

As their relationship deepens, so does the danger of their dark secrets spilling out. I was mesmerized  when Sebastian is faced with his past and the cruel blow of confessing to Aria.

In this part, there is another couple of characters that bring more edge to the plot. An old acquaintance of Sebastian's who I'm not sure if he has his own book yet, but seems pretty well-developed so it's a strong possibility. And a good one ;o)

When the vortex of guilt and violence explodes in one of the most erotic lovemaking scenes I've ever read, it just sucks you in. I don't know how the author manages it, but she's got a unique talent to combine passion, control, painful pleasure and desperate need, and then pour it all into a powerfully charged narrative that will leave you panting and out of your mind. And the most beautiful thing is that it all goes beyond the body, the painful control, to where the senses connect with who the characters are, why they're so damaged, and how completely, undeniably fit together.

Believe me, this episode is just terrifying, both emotionally and physically. Pure catharsis. I don't know how I'll read the next one. I need a break...

It was too much. Sebastian's action took a toll on Aria and me! But it's the moment of truth. I have to face the end. They have to face their own demons, those in the past and those they carry inside.

Sebastian has a secret that was devastating to him, but Aria has a secret that might break them both. OMG. I'm trembling with excitement over the pages that are coming, the things about to come out and burn all of us!

Well.... it's over now. Or not. Because Aria has told the last, soul-shattering truth and Sebastian has been there for her all along. However, the ending is just the amazing beginning of another story. And I was right! There is an Ethan Frost story somewhere and I must read everything by this author. She's made me go through hell and paradise in five novellas. Just wow.
