MY OPINION

Can a book be better than its predecessors?  This series has proven that and with honours. The third in a series of four and it is a masterpiece of psychological warfare, character evolution, depth of emotion, and a love that defies labels.

Celia and Edward deserve a genre of their own.

I felt absorbed like by a black hole of irresistible attraction and intensity. Now there is passion and true commitment in their tumultuous relationship, but the struggle and the challenges are far from settled.

This couple is teetering on the razor-sharp edge between revenge and self-preservation. Is it worth it to pursue resolution for injustices done to them, or the price will be too high for the soul?

There's an analogy about strength and the lengths we go to in order to fulfill revenge that was simply genius. And the battle of wills continue with extreme force when they deal with past traumas and present trust. Celia is still facing her demons in more detailed,  painful ways, which I think take now a resolute, productive tone. Yet Edward surprised me with his own issues. His psyche is delved into with excruciating clarity. So much thrill in this book, in these characters' constant clash and provocative dialogues, in the tempest and fervor of their unorthodox romance. Spectacular.

I think my admiration for Celia grew exponentially once again. She deals with her husband's blind obsession with unyielding hope and resilience. So much drama and raw emotions between them, oh my! I feel as if I know them, their happiness being vital to me now.

One of the most harrowing situations about Celia's past comes to a keenly graphic epiphany, with Edward very much a triggering motor behind it. It is hard to go through, and epic as it is, it only builds up to more peaks of secrets revealed for this couple. I believe the tests keep piling up for them and the next book will be unmissable.

ENJOY AN EXCERPT

Inside the windowed room, I set one of the glasses on a table next to the loveseat then dimmed the overhead before taking the other glass to the armchair across from it. The string of lights that had been put up outside for the party were still lit, creating a romantic mood. Not exactly what I was going for, but it would do. In my experience, the darker setting made confessions easier.

I stretched my neck, easing the knots there as I looked out over the yard. The day had been busy and full, and the party had been, by all accounts, successful, but I’d spent the entire time preoccupied with Edward. Even when entertaining strangers or running around trying to find Ilsa to tell her we were out of toilet paper, I’d been aware of my husband. He was a magnetic force, always pulling my thoughts and my body in his direction. Like gravity holding me in his orbit.
I’d never felt that way about anyone before. Not just that in love but also that attached. I was still reeling from the newness of it, eighteen months after we’d wed.

I was also still adjusting to the way he affected me. How he’d brought me peace yet could stir up levels of jealousy within me that I’d never thought possible. His trip to the garden with Marion was innocent—it had to be considering the way he grinned at me when he’d returned. The devil himself wouldn’t flaunt his discretions so openly.

Would he?

   Enjoy an excerpt:

As he lined himself up at my entrance, I silently congratulated myself for having chosen a low-back couch when I’d redesigned his office before we’d gotten married, and then he was there, inside me, pushing so deeply into my body that I felt more than penetrated. I felt conquered. I felt owned.

I let my dangling shoe fall off, then bent my knee and brought my foot up to rest on the back beside me, opening myself wider to him, giving him more access. With one arm wrapped firmly around my waist to hold me up, he rammed into me, over and over at a dizzying speed. His pelvis hit against my clit, sending delightful shocks through my body that had me gasping in rhythm to his jabs.   I was already halfway to an orgasm, already too blissed out to form words when he started talking.

“You want to know why?” His voice was strained, but he could still speak coherently.   I could barely remember my name, let alone form an answer, especially not to a question that I didn’t fully understand.   Thankfully, he clarified.
“You want to know why this man? Why righting this wrong was important to me?”   He didn’t expect me to respond. It was obvious when he cupped his hand around my neck, his thumb stretching across my pulse point, pressing just enough to make speech difficult.   No, he didn’t need me to say anything.   He needed me to listen.   “Because I love you, bird,” he said.

Breaking Noah: a tempting revenge story + giveaway

Revenge, a teasing mind, a man with a secret sin? I want all of that! What about you, book buddies? Are you ready for BREAKING NOAH?

Breaking Noah
By: Missy Johnson & Ashley Suzanne
Releasing May 12, 2015
Loveswept

What happens when you start falling for your worst enemy? Fans of Abbi Glines and Monica Murphy will relish this addictive novel of smoking-hot seduction—and revenge gone so wrong, it’s right.

I wasn’t always this jaded. I had a clear head, things I wanted out of life, and a concise plan on how to get there. For being only twenty-one, I pretty much had it all figured out. Until the day my cousin died.

I spent months going over all the details surrounding her death, trying to figure out how I missed the signs, and the only thing I could come up with was she would still be alive if it wasn’t for one person: her professor. So I transferred to his college, enrolled in his class, and set my new plan in motion.

First I’ll seduce him. Then I’ll ruin him. I’ve just got to stay strong and not let his charm and my emotions get the best of me. Because someone has to pay for her death. If it’s the last thing I do, I’m going to break Noah.

ABOUT THE MASTERMINDS

Missy Johnson

Missy Johnson is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author who lives in a small town in Victoria, Australia, with her husband and her confused pets (a dog who thinks that she is a cat, a cat who thinks he is a dog . . . you get the picture). When she’s not writing, she can usually be found looking for something to read.

Ashley Suzanne

Ashley Suzanne has been writing for as long as she can remember. As a youngster, she was always creating stories and talking to her imaginary friends. Thankfully, her parents also carried this love of fiction, and helped her grow into the bestselling author she is today. When Ashley isn’t coming up with her next story, you'll most likely find her on the couch, telling her husband all about her new book boyfriend, or spending quality time with her two gremlins . . . er, adorable children.

“It would be a shame if you left, Zara,” he says hurriedly. “You’re a very nice girl, one of my top students. I really do want to be your friend. Let me see if I can answer your question without overstepping the line. As long as we’re honest friends, this shouldn’t be a problem.”
“I promise, Mr. Bain. I just need someone to talk to—to figure out what I’m doing wrong. I moved here because Dillon wanted to take our relationship to the next level and I thought it was the right thing. I just don’t feel the same way about him anymore.” I pause for effect. “Being in college has made me question what I want in life, and I don’t think it’s him. I deserve better. I deserve a man who treats me like I’m the most important person in the world.”
“It seems that this Dillon kid is a bit of a tool. You’re a beautiful girl, Zara, and you shouldn’t tie yourself down so early in life. Shit, I’m almost twenty-seven and I’m not married.”
“You have a girlfriend, though, right?”

“I do.”

“And do you think you want to be with her forever?”

“I’m not sure,” he answers honestly, his tone troubled and distraught. “I don’t think so. It’s kind of like you and Dillon. Something’s missing, I’m just not sure what.”
I’m what’s missing. Open up a little more, Noah. Just let me in. Then . . . Check. Mate.
“If you were a girl, I’d say you were probably missing the orgasm,” I joke, and he chokes on the other end of the phone.
Laughing hysterically, he tries to contain himself enough to talk, but every time he begins to speak, he starts laughing again.
“It’s not really that funny, Mr. Bain,” I pout.
“Okay, two things,” he manages to get out between chuckling. “First, when we’re acting as friends, you may call me Noah. It sounds really weird being this formal on the phone. And finally, you’re far too smart for a girl your age. There are certain things a young woman shouldn’t know, and having a terrible relationship due to lack of orgasms is one of them.”
“Lack of orgasms is a huge problem in our society, Noah. A woman will do just about anything to reach that perfect, euphoric place. That’s why we get all crazy and shit . . . It’s because we’re having lousy sex.”

“You’re still too young to know these things.” He chuckles again.

“I’m old enough to know that I’ve had more sex in the last month than in my entire life and I’m feeling rather crazy.”

“Because you’re not getting your orgasms? Are you sure it’s not because it’s that time of the month?” he jokes.

“I promise. If I was having great, mind-blowing sex, I’d be in a much better mood.”
“There will be plenty of boys in your future that will help you fix that problem. For now you should just worry about getting through this semester. You probably should get to sleep. Classes in the morning and all,” he says, trying to change the subject.
“It was really nice talking to you, Noah. Thanks for being a friend.”
“I’m always here. Anything you need, just let me know.” I’m sure he didn’t mean anything by it, but all I can think is he just offered me an orgasm. The image of us rolling around in the sheets, hot and sweaty, our bodies connected, invades my senses and my aroused state only gets worse as I think about him. On me, in me, touching me.
Stop it. Don’t let him in like this. Cat and mouse. You have to win.
“Look, I gotta go. I’m sorry for bothering you.” I end the call and sit up. My heart is racing as I wipe my sweaty palms on my robe. He’s getting to me and I have no idea why. I have to remain in control, because right now that’s all I have. I reach for my phone again and tap out a message.
Me: Thanks Noah. Just talking to you made me feel loads better.
