My first book by ELLE KENNEDY, and it was a total success! Have you read it, book buddies? It reminds me of Jennifer L. Armentrout's style. It's beautiful and sexy and so real! :o)
He’s a player in more ways than one…
College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he’ll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he’s worth a second chance.
Now he’s going to need to up his game…
After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She’s not a charity case, and she’s not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He’ll have to work for it. This time around, she’ll be the one in the driver’s seat…and she plans on driving him wild.
Fun,
romantic, original and sexy! I really enjoyed reading this story because it
felt so real all the time. It felt so real all the time. The characters are
wonderful and their relationship felt natural, devoid of unnecessary drama.
Logan is an amazing boyfriend and flawed in just the right way. His family
issues are heart-breaking, and it really added depth to his otherwise charming
and creative personality. Chapeau, Elle Kennedy!
Logan is your
typical college boy, all booze and hook-ups, who's also pining for his best
friend's girlfriend. Grace is a little awkward and smart and funny, and happens
to have a huge crush on John-freaking-awesome-Logan. Disaster alert!
Fast-paced, this
NA novel has nicely set scenes, catchy dialogues, easy-going flow, and playfully
detailed steamy times.
I enjoyed so
many things in this story. The accidental way Logan and Crace have their first
connection (and sexy encounter), then the natural awkwardness of
relationships-in-the-slow-but-hot-making. It was extremely exciting to read
Logan's thoughts about his responsibility to ensure a girl's pleasure, and how
he acted on it ;o)
The author
does a brilliant job at depicting a casual encounter that's uncomplicated,
sweet, free, which ten turns into a surprising take-over of the couple's
feelings and changes their lives in unforeseen ways. They aren't looking for
anything, but sweet and smart Grace opens up a space of belonging and
much-needed care in Logan's chest. Ironically, trying to be a good man is what
drags him into the mud of defeat and shame. Poor Grace, I could imagine her
anger and disappointment.
While keeping
the reading experience really fluid, the author allows a firm grasp of family
issues and friends dynamics, and how they affect the characters' frame of mind.
And I have to say that Grace is just my kind of female girlfriend. I loved her
attitude, she hurts but she doesn't go nuts, she's smart. It was so great how Logan
woos her, yet it was incredible how Grace makes him win her over.
If you're
like me and love second-chance romances, a redeeming hero, cool dialogue, smart
writing and a totally sexy couple, just grab this book already!
