MY OPINION OF FERVENT
You can taste
fear and desperation from chapter one. I cringe from all the suffering Alex and
Rafe are going through in the third part of this dark, dark series. The
author's devious imagination has spawned the worst nightmare to inflict on this
doomed couple. She weaves a suffocating atmosphere with her words that speak of
dungeons, vengeance, beatings, hatred and sexual deviancy.
One thing I
truly admire is the ongoing strength of this woman who has already endured so
much. Alex may be dainty and beautiful, but she has a will of iron to survive
and to protect her love for Rafe. She's a lioness at heart.
All the
while, Rafe is in a battle against his inner demons. Trying to remember an
identity in shreds while a dark conspiracy keep them both caged to a horrendous
secret that thrives in pain and corruption.
Expect a
staggering amount of violence, humiliation and agony, all bundled in sheer
desperation and mind-blowing evil. A couple of surprises threw my head around
as the plot kept twisting even deeper.
The thrilling
action sequences had me riveted to the story. They came non-stop as Alex and
Rafe fight against a really dark conspiracy they've fallen victims to. This
twisted plot was a gripping backbone for the emotional rollercoaster that their
lives have become. The characters' connection is strong, but frayed at the
seams and it gets disturbing and hot as they try to solve their issues. Some of
their mind-games are painful and deviant, but once you know this couple and
what they've endured, you just crave their scorching-hot dynamics.
So I was
devastated when they finally reach that all-consuming. all screwed-up crescendo
that once again is pure drama and pain. Oh, now I have to wait (too long) for
Vagrant (August, 13th). This hurts. Gemma James, you should be happy then.
