The final dance of a beautiful serial

Oh, the bliss of consummation. I've been in love with this serial since I knew about it and then read episodes 1 and 2, FIRST POSITION and SECOND POSITION. This final part is like the sweetest dessert after a perfect meal. I absolutely devoured it!

My favourite dancers finally get their moment together in many ways. Annalise is faced with a tough choice when an ultimatum puts her against the ropes. I was afraid for her, but she's a brave girl in the face of pressure, guilt and the heritage of ballet. I can't say how much I relished the time she and Raphael dance together, so beautifully written and so evocative.

The kind of more intimate dance that follows is just stunningly erotic and meaningful.

However, all the risks she's taking in the name of love come crashing down on her with brutal reality. When she focus on her dancing career again is with a broken heart. I felt as betrayed as she did, as lonely as she was. When she reaches perfection is as a shell of herself. It was so sad to see her go through all that.

Let me assure you that this story is about mad, mad love because what this girl does for her man goes beyond all reason. Though in the end it's actually much more than that.  It's about a person's freedom to choose her destiny without the burden of everyone else's dreams and expectations.

The author's prose is always sweet, delicate and transcendently romantic. I enjoyed Annalise and Raphael's romance, and I also appreciated the love for life itself and its infinite possibilities that underlies the love story. Beautiful.

My opinion of Second Position

I was eagerly awaiting the continuation of the exciting story between Annalise and Raphael. Can you imagine the exhilaration of falling in love in Rome where the temptation is all-consuming but forbidden? Well, you don't have to imagine it if you read this beautiful serial.

I've fallen in love with it right away. It's got the sweet and feverish tone of first love, but also the powerful lure of a great passion. Every word is touched with emotion. I really enjoy the author's prose. She can make me feel the high risk of ballet dancing, the sacrifice of everything in the name of achievement, the struggle of emotion versus reason, and the mind-blowing sensuality of this couple.

After that cliffhanger in the first part, I had to know what was going to happen to Annalise. She's torn by the sheer pressure of performing to the best of her abilities, with an audition looming over her and threatening her future if she fails. On the other side of ambition, there is Raphael, all glorious male beauty, who also has dreams his own stash of loneliness. It's so good to see how well they fit, emotionally and physically.

I like everything, though there are a few favourite moments like the celebration at a traditional Italian restaurant that feels so cozy and full of joy, or their first intimate scene together. So intense!

This combination of dancing and love is so powerful. Both Annalise and Raphael are changing their lives from the moment they meet. It's risky, dangerous, but also freeing. I love that about the story.

This is one of my favourite serials so far because of the dancing theme, the beauty of the words and feelings, and so much passion and sensibility in it.

The cliffhanger is perfect. I have to read the third part no matter what!

MY OPINION OF FIRST POSITION

I love the theme of this novella. Dancing. And romance and passion and it all takes place in Rome!

You can't help but feel connected to Annalise when she sets eyes on Raphael for the first time. He's performing in a cozy Italian piazza, his movements another form of art in fluid motion. The spark of a soon-to-become-pyre of unbridled need lights up between them in the span of a second. A first dance that will lead to many more when their bodies touch.

Melody's words are always enveloping, sweetly arousing and drug you into a state of absolute abandon to the sensuality that pulsates between Raphael and Annalise. Beautifully written, as always.

I could feel myself in Annalise's place, defying rules and curfew to go and meet this gorgeous Italian man who invites her out into the night to experiece wild freedom as she's never tasted before. She's a cute girl. I like her. A life devoted to the discipline of ballet and of fulfilling her mother's ambitions have left her vulnerable. And in comes the beautiful, magnetic Raphael, the serpent that will put everything she's fought for in peril. I'd also want him to teach me some lessons!

The author does a superb job at describing how huge the risk is for a dancer to dally in romance while her career is in the balance. Though how can anyone resist the temptation of the flesh?

I loved this First Position, it's sensual and original, and that ending left me in a bundle of nerves and sadness. I really hope the sky looks brighter for the star-crossed lovers in Second Position. Which, of course, I want to read too :o)
