MY OPINION
I love fairy
tales with a twist.
With a direct
and fluid style, author sets a pace that makes the pages fly. The brooding
beast of the fairy tale is recognisable, yet his scars run deeper than the torn
skin on his huge body.
Viktor harbours
a dark past behind his brutal physique that really surprised me. Not to mention
the beauty in the story. She's far from a meek lady, yet this damsel in
distress is also running from untold horrors. The way their two lives
interconnect was awesome.
A battle of
desire and domination takes place at the beast's mansion that I really enjoyed.
It was fun, steamy hot, and made me curious. Alexis finds herself in Viktor's hands with
no possibility of escape. I liked the way they meet and how she ends up in that
luxurious cage.
On the other
hand, there were a few things I didn't like as much. For instance, sometimes
the general tone or dialogues seemed to be a bit flippant despite the dark
theme. That erased some tension. And after a harsh encounter, Viktor was
capable of great physical exertion without any trouble.
In the end,
all the juicy secrets jumped up to ensnare both the captor and the captive in a
finale with loads of energy, bloody violence and dangerous justice.
It's a lively
mixture of dark and steamy, and an unlikely love story between two kinds of
broken creatures that mend themselves when they find each other. It's also
another chapter in this crazy, twisted world the author has created with all
kinds of monsters and appealing antiheroes. Good addition.
