Hi, book buddies :-) I adore summer. I know it can be too hot sometimes, but it's so full of light and possibilities. What is on your TBR for this month?

I'm designing my own list of books to read this August, but the very first one is DIRTY JUDGE by Whitney G. It's perfect for fun and feeling.

MY OPINION of DIRTY JUDGE

One of my favourites. It's not only fun and crazy as usual, but it manages to tackle a tough issue, sets up a well-crafted plot with shadowing and secrets, and the romance is top-notch. 

Olivia kept surprising me. Sure, she's a good girl with terrible luck, but she's also occasionally deranged. Hilarious when it comes to plot devices. Liam is the hottest judge on Earth. I love his demeanor, his quirks and his dishonourable honour. This time I ended up feeling sorry for the male character. He's harsh and has a penchant for vendettas, but he finds himself the world's villain and he doesn't even go mad or bad about it. He's solid.

The romance itself is even rounder this time. The couple slow-burns their way into a passion that escalates hotly yet it still feels emotional. I loved the ending with its surprises and its romantic turn. Nicely done, Miss G.

HERE IS MY OPINION :-)

A professor and a student with such chemistry that is everyone's naughty fantasy.

After book 1, of which I was in awe, I was eager to read this continuation. I needed answers! To the love affair, to the secret society, to students suffering in the hands of enigmatic forces, to Shakespearian undercurrents that move us all.

William Stratford and Anne Hill dance between provocation and longing in very alluring ways in this book. Academia is as decadent as the sensuality in it. I can't deny my utter devotion to the atmospheric, thought-provoking literature classes. Really, I was completely immersed in those.

Interesting trains of thoughts about literature and psychological trauma abound. There are some uncomfortable moments as the plot plunges Anne down the rabbit hole, plenty of taboo and healing too. Despite the harshness of some events, the author manages to put beauty in everything. That's the quality seal I love about her writing. 

I enjoyed the moments of female friendship and sorority, found entertainment in the dark humanity. The intimacy between the main characters is top-notch. When the explosive final events sweep through the last chapters, it felt as thrilling as the journey there had been compelling. Now, I can only imagine what the third book will bring to the study table.  A+.

The dark side of Prince Charming

MY OPINION

If you're going to read a story, make it this one. Guaranteed obsession.

I was hooked on this couple's dirty pull in book 1, Stroke of Midnight, and the author's mesmerising writing from the start. This is the most powerful continuation ever. It's intense, flamboyantly filthy, fun, terrifying, and more addictive than holidays.

Winston and Ash are the couple you would never see coming, but they work like a magical black powder formula. Combustive, and a bad influence I was lucky to welcome into my life.

I didn't feel like I was reading a book, it was more like I was seeing and living it all. The drama is raging with emotion and the teasing is buoyant with life and excitement. What a combination!

The maid and the billionaire continue with their kinky transaction where money flies in obscene amounts in exchange of lewd indulgence. I loved every naughty encounter because it was filled with personality, meaning, sacrifice and promise. Every time these two intertwine their flesh is trascendental in some way.

I loved Ash's resilience, her belief in their connection. Even though he refuses to acknowledge it, there's an evolution throughout the book that shows her persistence, natural charm and incredible spirit are growing on his denial. The dialogues between them breath humour, passion, and banter. Winston Constantine is like a modern Crassus, the embodiment of power, dark lust, and walled heart. Both sides of his nature shine here, his evil streak and his possessiveness. 

I was happy that I got to know the Constantine family so much better. The siblings are a good bunch and the mother is like a lioness. There are multiple scenes with them, and they link with the couple's scenes in fantastic ways. The plot thickens when Ash is caught between Win's enemies and her own. I was astounded by the painful drama of certain scenes, but they ensure an epic retaliation from Winston that is exhilarating. Not a page goes by without your heart rate accelerating. 

And despite this relationship seeming to be doomed, I still hoped for them. Until the cliffhanger. OMG. This Prince Charming is about to unleash his inner villain in all his glory. I need a cuddle asap.

MY OPINION

This anthology caught my attention right away with the theme, the bold title and that shocking cover. 

I am a fan of Brianna Hale's tales so I dove in right away. It starts in the middle of danger and tragedy.  The damsel in distress is running away from wolves, through the snow and fear, carrying an infant in her arms. So dramatic! I loved the huge man who fights, loves and protects with all his mighty form and strength. They find a true bond between them, the young woman despised at her village and the lonely man who has lost so much. I especially enjoyed the contrast between the dire circumstances, with the cold and stark living and wolves, and the tender feelings, mating passion and protective nature. The paranormal confrontation with the wolves is full of thrill. There are interesting touches about babies, life in winter, and an epilogue that brings warm feelings of good neighbours and domestic bliss. Very satisfying.

The Blood Rose is a horror story imbued with spooky mystery and decadent romance. Perfect for stormy nights, it tells a tale of dark longings and doomed love. The atmosphere is soaked in old- Europe elegance and rich culture as the female character enjoys tourist life in Paris. I loved meandering through the landmarks of the city as she falls hopelessly under the spell of a stranger with charismatic personality and artistic wisdom. It is a beautiful thing only made more intense by the eery visits to catacombs, cemeteries, and the painful ending. There certainly is beauty in death when narrated with bittersweet tenderness and elegance. It felt like a romanticised Poe tale.  

No room for boredom with these stories, rich in ambiance and sharpness. Good entertainment.

Romance is always WORTH THE WHISK

Hi, book buddies :-) Food and books mix well, and I am always on the lookout for romance that includes some yummy treats. Here is another sweet book by Melissa Williams. Peek ahead!

WORTH THE WHISK by Melissa Williams

MY OPINION

I'm always ready for good comedy, especially if there is food involved and the romance brings a smile to my face. No doubt this story covers all bases. It's light, optimistic, cute, and the characters bring with them reversed roles. She is a plumber and he is a baker. How cool is that? 

The meet-cute is happy and catchy, and it's followed by a messy second encounter that's both funny and charming. The romance is slow-burn and friendly though do not doubt that the chemistry is happening among croisants, pizza, and male muscles.

The treats don’t stop there. Both characters bring insight to their jobs and daily lives. I particularly liked a scene concerning a special delivery which turned out to be filled with fun and donuts. What can be better than that?

Oh yeah, some heated action between Harrison and August! Their romance had me smiling and sighing with delight, especially the ending which is quirky and dreamy. 

Though the sweet happiness takes place only after a 180 degree-plot twist that boggles the mind. Yes, the seed was planted early on, but wow, wasn't expecting such a rise in drama. Pretty surprising. 

Well, the story is very good entertainment, so I would recommend it as much as the first book in the series. 

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Oh, you know a phallic pipe joke? Cool. I’ve heard them all. Trust me, they don’t make me blush anymore.

Doing my cousin a favor, I take a late-night plumbing call thinking it’ll be an easy fix. What I’m not prepared for is to be mistaken for a homeless man or to find a soaking wet hunk glaring at me.

I have to work fast not only to fix his perception of me, but also the burst pipe that is flooding the Bake, Rattle & Roll bakery.

Working around pastry chef Harrison Daniels throws a wrench in my plans. I’m going to have to use every tool in my arsenal to resist falling for him and his sweet, tempting words.

He’s out to prove he’s worth the risk and I’m starting to agree.

We knew THE SECOND WE MET

Hi, book buddies :-) It has to be impossible to forget this enticing cover, right? Well, here he is with the whole book. It's out! 😉💖

MY OPINION

Fun and catchy.

Enemies to lovers new adult romance with atomic quarrels and sassy exchanges. The comebacks and banter between the characters were some of the best things of the story. 

Elle and Nix are college students about to graduate, they live in front of each other and seem to be opposites in personality. They clash at first with very entertaining results. He's the football star with a controlling father and she is a driven student hurting with trust issues.

There's a lot of room dedicated to football glorification and friendly gatherings. Even one emerging story for the future between a shy baking- obsessed girl and her handsome neighbour. 

I enjoyed Nix’s relationship with his grandfather and Elle's determination to carve a future for herself by studying hard and doing good things like volunteering. That is another great part of the book as this impossible couple's relationship develops around volunteer work. It's really engaging, especially because of their respective reasons to be doing that. Hot chemistry abounds as well as some hiccups in their trust.

It felt original how football fame, appearances and betrayal all mix together in one non-stop realistic experience. The heartbreak goes hand in hand with how much they come to understand and love each other, and the big ugly things hitting them at the end work in tandem to make an intense climax of the story. 

Camaraderie, a heart to heart reconciliation, and unexpected plans for a new kind of future fill the last chapters. And I am proud of these two characters. They have overcome their own obstacles and found love and passion in the process.

Now let's get ready for Beck and Jules. That story is going to be so good!

His fingers tightened around the hair at the base of my neck. Tilting my head to the side, he ran his lips over my skin, sending shivers down my spine.

“Are you okay?” I tried to push myself up.

He tightened his hold around me. “The stress balls, sweatpants, and t-shirts cushioned my fall.”

“Thank you for today.” I peppered his jaw with kisses.

“Thank you for letting me do this for you.” The outline of his erection pressed against the front of my mound. Just one inch higher…

He wrapped his hands around my waist and lifted me, perfecting the angle.

I shuddered and ground my hips against him. Someone walked by the door, but we didn’t stop—couldn’t stop.

His hands cupped my ass, dragging me harder against him. The texture of his jeans added extra sensation against my clit. I was on fire for him through two layers of clothes.

My short gasps and his low groans were the only sounds in the room other than the fabric friction.

“We should get back out there.” I raked my teeth along the side of his neck.
