Literaria: Happily Ever After for Lori and Cole

Hi, book buddies :-) It's time again to enjoy a magnificent romantic suspense from Lisa Renee Jones and her fantastic Dirty Rich series.

MY OPINION

I’m so excited there’s a new story about Lori and Cole. From a delightful honeymoon in Paris to a hell of painful secrets and murder investigation, this second novel was thrilling in every page.

The gripping intensity of this couple’s emotions drove me forward non-stop. Cole was tormented by a past that is reawakened like a dormant beast. I thought it was a powerful twist that brought about an upheaval to the dynamics of the marriage with possessiveness, protection mode in full alert, and passion that was portrayed in such intimate and charged terms that I ended up panting, and utterly lost in their world, too.

Many possibilities of tension and rifts bloom between them, and I was invested in their reactions to weathering the storm. Thus ensues a cycle of strained feelings, wonderfully complicated marital conversations to deal with those feelings, and loads of legal problems that assault them simultaneously which makes this an absorbing read.

Cole’s assistant, Ashley, is also in the middle of a tremendous situation that I’d LOVE to delve in. A new character, Alexander, has piqued my interest as well. Cat and Reese and other Walker Security men pop up to build that fantastic team of support around the cases. It’s so addictive!

Both Cole and Lori must also deal with their family issues and that stroke a cord with me. I could relate to their sense of loss and it felt right to voice those fears and watch them deal with them together. They are two fighters in love. I dig this couple :-D

What amazes me is that every danger or case that comes up is the seed to another great story to be developed and for me to eagerly read. I want all those stories to be written!

Voices sound just outside the door, and I panic. “Cole,” I hiss. He reacts, and in an instant, his arm is around my waist and he’s pulling me into a long, narrow stall, shutting the heavy door and locking it. Women, two I think, enter the bathroom, and Cole steps back in front of me, his cheek pressing to mine as he whispers. “I’m going to make you come with them standing right there.” My fingers curl on his chest. “No,” I silently whisper, but he swallows the protest with a deep lick of his tongue, and just like that, he’s grabbed my panties and yanked them away.
And then he’s kneeling on one knee, his lips pressing to my belly, and the effect is an adrenaline rush up and down my body. My fingers tangle in his hair and I tell myself it’s to pull him away, but his tongue flicks my belly button and I bite my lip to silence my pleasure. I know where that tongue is headed and it’s almost too much.
