MY OPINION

Brutal, honest, erotic, frighteningly tempting.

I always start a book by this author with a little (a lot) trepidation. I know I will love her wild imagination, I know I relish her beautifully dark writing. Yet I never know if what she writes will break my poor mental protections. Sometimes I love everything, sometimes I cringe at a taboo that's too much for me.

This time, I found myself totally mesmerized. Abigail is broken inside. You can feel her emptiness and despair when she finally gives in and seeks to turn a recurrent nightmare into reality. She wants her monster in dreams to chase her for real. And grab her with carnal intent. Willingly unwilling. She plays with the devil with her eyes wide open. That's a premise bound to be unforgettable.

The raw writing reflects a keen sense of the darkness within, and the cleansing freedom it brings when it is embraced. Every phase this taboo pact goes through is masterfully played out. The fear of making a mistake, the implicit trust that it won't end up in murder or even accepting that fate. Then the first taste of requested violence. I thought it was all incredibly fascinating even though I recoiled a bit in my own fear of the situation if it were real. What a paradox. The stalking, the planning, the actual taking of the feeling female, all of it was detailed in earnest and with care. Loved every little twisted thing.

Of course, both characters deserve their chapters with independent point of views. They both have secrets and tortured real lives. The final part when those lives collide packs so much tragedy that it is palpable. Tears, heartbreak and violence all combine before hope breaks like the dawn. 

My only complaint is that the F word is sometimes used every three words, repeatedly. I love the F word, when it is used wisely. Otherwise, it misses the point. 

I'm completely satisfied with this intense story, it's dark romance with very steamy encounters for the connoiseur palate, and two souls with matching deviant behaviours. Decadently good.

MY OPINION

I've never read a book like this one. It's not a theme to be taken lightly as it can hurt sensibilities, but the author approaches this Daddy/little dynamic with a sweet, intimate writing style and a care for the mental state of the characters.

Yes, there's this vulnerable, young damsel in distress, and yes, there is this 42-year-old gentleman who rescues her from the night full of terrors. Yet the relationship they develop doesn't go from zero to one hundred in less than a minute. It takes the right combination of need, rejection, loneliness, desire, pain and compatibility to spark the real awareness of a D/l scenario. I loved it. I felt pampered and absorbed in its warmth.

Tragedy, social expectations, age difference and money, all play a part in this unusual romance that's loaded with tingling eroticism. It's dirty and sensitive at the same time.

I'd be unable to choose a favourite part. The beginning is such an intimate, provocative experience. Yet the last part marks such an insightful evolution for Laine and Nick. This story really took me to a different world inside me, and it made me happy. I hope it does you, too.

Finally, I've read DIRTY BAD STRANGERS, by Jade West. And... WOW.

MY OPINION

You're in for a twisted treat that you won't see coming. Oh, the many layers of that pun...

The author's mind has crafted a rare gem of depraved, fun and dirty exploration of the senses with this novel. Gemma, curvy, with all kinds of deviant fantasies about being shared by many strangers while her lover watches and commands. Jason,  against the ropes in real life, he lets go of steam by pursuing the woman he calls on a pay line.

Those phone calls are all kinds of naughty, shocking, hot, and just the tip of the iceberg of what's to happen when they break all rules and meet for real.

Honestly, whether you like it or not, it will open up your mind to things... I admit some of their little games were too much for me, yet I learned a lot and it was remarkably entertaining too. Not a minute of boredom with this couple of frenzied, bold, dirty lovers.

I've never read anything like this before. With brutal and filthy honesty, the author tells the unconventional relationship of a man who's trapped in his own life and a woman who craves freedom to live her sensuality without being called upon her shape. It's a story about crossing boundaries, breaking rules, and exploring the dark side of lust. The author joins two lost souls in unholy fornication in the most provocative, impossible ways.

I really enjoyed the part on the phone, when he's pressing for something real and she tries to resist. I liked that she's not a classic beauty yet he feels drawn to her free spirit and wanton nature. I liked that he can act jealous and possessive even when they're enacting their mutual fantasy of multiple partners. The crazy, erotic encounters were terrific, yet I loved something else more. I loved the forbidden bond between Jason and Gemma. They are separated by society, their commitments, their fears, though they can't help but feel real for the first time when they're together.

I've had a freaking and fabulous good time reading this story. It's like the dirtiest fairy tale possible with flashy media power, seedy and explosive sex exploration and a couple of strangers that are impossible to forget. You just have to read it and find out for yourself.
