Do you have a DEATH WISH?

Hi, book buddies :-) Do you read stories about villains who get the woman of their dreams? It's such an underrated subgenre :-D I love it!

 DEATH WISH

(Deception Duet #2) by K. Webster

Release Date: March 29th
  Add to Goodreads:

          Synopsis:

All I wanted is for my little sister Della to be safe and happy. And maybe, in brief stolen moments, I dreamed of a happy ending for myself with a brown-eyed man. That hope has turned into sharp, bright fear. There’s only survival now.

I’m the daughter of a controlling and cruel billionaire, so I understand about power. But I find myself fighting anyway. I find myself testing them.

I have claws and I bite. I’m not going down without a fight.

It’s like I have a death wish.

MY OPINION

Brutal, unbearably hot, and one gulp of twisted romance I didn't know I thirsted for.

Wow. The terror triplets deliver the right amount of crazy and lust without losing their style. I devoured this finale of the duet with immense curiosity and satisfaction. The previous book ended on a terrifying note that reaches its highest pitch in a few nerve-wracking first chapters.

But oh, the mystifying brand of erotic horror works so well in this author's hands. Scout is a brute with a particular kind of psycho personality, and he brandishes it with fearsome finesse. His two brothers, Sully and Sparrow, provide an entertaining and much needed balance. I loved the dynamics between a defying Landry and the besotted three brothers who take and give in equal measures.

It's true that lust and coercion morph into a world of its own in this novel. There are some intimate scenes that will heat up the pages like tinder. Amazing! However, the plot delves into the real type of forced submission and trauma that vulnerable girls suffer, and it's awfully intense and sad. So it's an interesting take on what real monsters are like in comparison to the villains in this story who love and protect their woman. It's a harsh contrast that makes for a gripping dark romance.

Landry suffers too much, but she also finds a new courage born from the unique relationship she has developed with the triplets. Inspiring and fitting. I enjoyed everything from Scout's mind that makes a sort of odd sense, to the evolution of shared love, to the little sister's place in this family, to the vicious plot twist at the end followed by the sense of accomplishment that comes from all the characters getting what they deserve. And even though the triplets were terrible in another book in the Midnight Dynasty series, I kind of like it that they get their bizarre redemption.

Dark Romance: TRIPLE THREAT

Hi, book buddies :-) It's a good start of the year when I get to read a book by the talented K. Webster. She sure knows how to push my buttons :-D

 TRIPLE THREAT

(Deception Duet #1) by K. Webster

Release Date: January 11th
  Add to Goodreads:

          Synopsis:
I’m a prisoner in a prestigious world.

A perfect princess locked in a tower.

My father will never let me go.

Not that I could leave. I would never abandon my little sister. Hope comes in the form of a devilishly handsome man with dark eyes and darker secrets.

With each encounter, I’m lured deeper into the labyrinth. The danger lurking beneath his surface calls to me, even as it warns me away.

Except there’s a new side of him every time we meet. A different danger each time we touch. It’s as if three different men want to devour me.

He’s not just one villain. He’s three.

MY OPINION

This is some dirty fun.

I confess that this was one of my most anticipated reads this year. You know why? Because three men pose as one to dupe a girl. I can't imagine anything juicier in the hands of this writer.

I had to know what story she would spin to make these characters and this plot work. I met the three brothers in another story that I absolutely loved. In the Cinderella trilogy, these triplets are an evil to be reckoned with. How would they turn out in a story of their own? Especially because they are deceiving one girl into believing they are just one man. So sinister! So exciting!

So far, I am hooked on this premise. The girl, Landry, is an angel with a little sister to protect and a father who has lost his way in devious terms. The tension and fear are palpable in that family. No wonder she falls prey to the first man, or three, who shows her a modicum of attention, teasing, pleasure, and crazy mood changes.

I really enjoyed all the interactions. The different personalities shine clearly in dialogue and attitude. Though the poor girl is suffering from Clark Kent syndrome. She can't tell that she's dealing with three evil hot men pursuing her ruin. I felt the connection between Landry and two of the brothers through their times together, but I failed to see the connection with the psychopath in the family, Scout. However, I found it very interesting and eye-opening to see his brain working in relation to his past transgressions, his dynamics with his two brothers, and his possessive streak.

The feud between the Constantines and the Morellis is well and alive in this book, which is at the root of the characters meeting. The real fun begins when it becomes personal for the triplets. Violence and lust explode everywhere! Though I fear for Landry. She's surrounded by monsters and by the way she ends up in the cliffhanger, she's about to meet the worst of them all :-D Gimme more!
