Hi, book buddies :-) I continue to read the new trilogy by Lisa Renee Jones. I can't miss it :-)  This second book is filled with emotional angst and a couple of twists in the plot. Let's do it!

MY OPINION

Intense, sensual and addictive. The author has crafted a good bridge between two books. Tyler and Bella's stormy romance continues with high stakes. 

It's a rush of emotional frustration and adrenaline. These characters are pulling and pushing in the middle of a highly charged crossroads. Feelings confronted with an airtight challenge do not breed trust nor room for intimacy, and this makes for a second book that's electrified with chemistry and trouble.

Are they really in love or is it a case of lust infused with practical necessity? I enjoyed this second part because the characters are trying to untangle their own emotions through a tense and complicated liaison. When they finally realise their connection is as much about feelings and intimacy as it is about a threat to their livelihood, the bomb explodes in the form of a tough cliffhanger.

So, I think most of the book is devoted to a tug-of-war between the characters, and the plot advances mostly at the end. It might be unbalanced in that regard, but the characters might have needed that space to reach a true understanding of their relationship as they went deeper into the problem at hand. 

It was a good read. Also, it was great to see the interactions with Bella's brother. Dash is such a good brother. He really shines in his role here. And Bella has a new presence in her life that's also a lovely addition to the book. I look forward to the final book!

MY OPINION

This is pure Skye Warren. All love. All pain. All heat.

Brave, poignant. Love and heartbreak all wrapped up in a romance against all odds. It's a story about hope and despair at the same time. Can they be separate? Oh, how I relish this kind of writing. So beautiful and laced with sorrow. 

I was eagerly anticipating this second book in the trilogy because the cliffhanger in the previous book was a strike to the heart. I needed to know what Eva and Finn would do! Is it the end for the blooming love, or are they going to fight for their happiness together? Wow, this book is actually hard to read in the sense of emotions because it hurts this wonderful couple and it hurts to sympathise with their grief.

Eva is such a good woman. She cares and protects her family and everyone she cares about. She is struggling with her new circumstances, and I couldn't help but feel her doubts and loss as if they were my own. And then, there is Finn. Oh, this lost man! He's in a maelstrom of fear and despair. Does he make mistakes? Of course he does, but they come from a hole of darkness that I wanted to fill with light. These characters are so alive and strong, so human and lovable. The author has made a courageous effort in depicting their emotional crusade with such tenderness and honesty.

I think this book deals with mental health in various degrees, so it's a veritable journey of the heart. It's also got a couple who loves deeply and teaches valuable lessons in life. The hot moments take place in highly emotional situations and they have a purpose in the characters' evolution if we give them time to set in. Amazing job from the author, and I am aching for the final book which is going to be epic by the look of that cliffhanger!
