Fabulous finale for this sensual and engaging duet. Not dark as the Slay quartet, but definitely intense, captivating, and oh so arousing.
Scott and Tess live through a whirlwind of unbending emotion, painful sacrifice and larger-than-life chemistry in this book.
I didn't know how things would go from the shocking cliffhanger in part 1, so I was extremely excited to see their reactions to each other's deception. I was thrilled to come along on the bumpy, heart-wrecking, hot ride of this couple as they told ugly truths and mended wounded trusts. It was the beginning of a road full of growing feelings put to the test, luxurious scenarios, family feuds, promises that could go up in flames but also change lives in fundamental ways. I loved every amazing bit of it.
While this second book is dripping with lust, it ties beautifully with fighting for one's self-worth and allowing yourself to be loved, to get what you deserve and not what little others may give you. It is put in a breathtaking way that makes you really feel the epiphany in all its haunting and poignant glory. Because both Scott and Tess fall deeply for each other and the journey feels so real and eye-opening.
This is new for them, this love that defies and redefines. And they both struggle to get what they really want out of life when it conflicts so outrageously with their position with family and friends and work. I loved how it all intertwined with the sponsorship of the organization that helps people with the same syndrome as Tess' friend, with Scott's power war with his father, and with how they can acknowledge love while respecting their own identity.
It is a great story with scorching-hot romance. Totally recommended.
