MY OPINION
I devoured it
like a decadent chocolate dessert, hot and sweet.
It was a
surprise for me to find out about the existence of DENIAL. I'd heard so much
about Lisa Renee Jones and her Inside Out series, but I hadn't had the chance
to delve in it. So, imagine my curiosity about this story that came into my
hands. Amnesia!
This plot
twist has always resonated with me. Perhaps due to tits aura of mystery or its
possibilities of emotional resurrection. Whatever it held, I wanted to
accompany the character's journey into new self-awareness, surprising
discoveries and tantalizing sensuality.
And wow.
Elegant
style, intimately linking the characters with their emotions. A thrilling sense
of mystery and secretive atmosphere. The interaction between the main
characters is electrified with danger and desire.
To my utter
delight, I have loved every page of this book. Suspenseful, as tense as a tight
rope, alive with a crackling energy that pulls at Kayden and Ella. Plenty of
dialogues make you fly through every scene elegantly set up, while a woman with
no memory is surrounded by questions, enigmas and terrible danger to her life
with only a dubious yet powerfully fascinating stranger as her sole saviour.
One thing I also loved is the fact that she's not meek or stupid, even when
facing so much doubt and secrets. She's smart, brave and undeterred in her
prusuit of the truth and her freedom. Thankfully, she ends up accepting the
darkly heroic help from Kayden. Oh, that man can be seductive. And that utterly
delicious seduction is masterfully interwoven with Ella's mystery and his own
devious past.
Cleverly
imagined and beautifully written, this story of lost memories, disturbing clues
in flashbacks, endless secrets and deep, intimate sensuality proves to be a
sharp and exciting first taste of this author's new series. Oh, yes, when I got
to the end, it was almost a heart attack for me. Cliffhanger, people, a hard
one. And I DEMAND my second book in the Careless Whispers series.

I couldn’t sleep. I meant to go to the kitchen and then I ended up here because I wanted . . .” His reaction cuts like his anger. “Just never mind.” I try to move around him but his hands press to the wall beside me, caging me, and now I’m angry. “Are we doing this again? Don’t bully me. My stupid flashbacks are doing a fine job of that on their own. I said I’m sorry. Just let me go back to my room.”
“You wanted what?”
“I wanted you to do what you swore you could,” I blurt, having nothing to lose when everything is already gone.
“Only I don’t want you to f*ck me until I can’t remember my name. I want you to f*ck me until I stop thinking about that man and the gun. Because you were right. Memories are the enemies that never die. But I know you don’t want—”
His hand slides under my hair and he drags me to him, my hand flattening on the hard wall of his chest. “I do want. So f*cking bad it’s killing me.”
My palm is directly over his heart, and I can feel it racing, the air around us crackling with barely contained passion. “I don’t need a hero to save my virtue tonight. I need you. So please. F*ck me and then f*ck with my head so no one else can. Let me choose my own sins.”
