I've been jumping up and down to get my hands on PART 2 of THE VIGILANTE'S LOVER, by Annie Winters and Tony West, and now that I have I keep jumping because of that ending!!!
I jumped at
the chance to read The Vigilante's Lover because the premise was impossible to
refuse. Now, the cliffhanger at the end was superb and had my nerves on high
alert. So I was ready to be awed by Jax and Mia's escape or lack of it. I must
say they managed it quite artfully, but no sooner had they cleared out of that
predicament than a new surprise was brewing.
It caught me
unaware and it was fantastic because it led them to a hot-blooded encounter. I
loved that scene. Sadly, it was over too soon. More disappointments for Mia who
never gives up on her pursue of excitement, adventure and an enduring
connection with James Bond-turned-rogue Jax. When will he give in to Mia's
temptation? We all want him to!
Other
characters' interaction was a lot of fun such a certain old lady or Colette
with her accent and car tricks and savoir-faire. There isn't a moment of ease
or boredom. It's all excitement, car races, astute espionage and covert
operations. Mia's character never disappoints. She's resilient, never gives up
in the face of the unknown or after Jax's rejection. Their worlds seem to be
antagonistic with no place for mingling, but she's not about to lose a life of
adventure and meaning next to a man who's awakened her in so many ways.
Despite the
fact that a good part of the story takes place with the couple being separated
(which frustrated me to no end), it was worth it. And it was compensated by so
much intrigue and hot action. The Vigilante technology keeps astounding me. When
they finally reunite, it was passionate and worth the wait. The plot keeps
getting more and more interesting and clever, the pace is top-notch thrilling.
But that
cliffhanger???? I'm about to go into overdrive! So unfair to leave a poor
reader in such distress. I want my part 3 now. Ipso facto. Please...
