One of my favourite genre mixtures is to have Historical fiction and romance together. Oh, what a treat this is, book readers. THE TOUCH OF BETRAYAL is my first glimpse and taste of an exciting series by Taryn Scarlett.

MY OPINION
There's something potent about taking History, with all its drama and biblical sanctity, and infusing it with the forbidden nature of sensual desires.
The elegant, insightful narrative evokes the earthy atmosphere of the past, alive with deadly politics, violent men, and impossible choices. Two mystical, yet carnal characters as Samson and Delilah becomes breathing creatures with their own agendas, their own wounded hearts.
Delilah is a vital, beautiful woman who is drawn to perilous ways. Isolated, persecuted, forced by circumstances and without a choice, she succumbs to dark deeds in order to survive. All her wiles and beauty at the service of seducing an enemy she doesn't know only to free herself from another enemy she despises.
And thus beings a game of wits and desire that's fascinating. I relished every moment of danger, of harshness and suspicion, of fear and regret. Especially, I loved the sad, poignant, doomed bond that arises between Delilah and Samson, both in so much need of a soothing love that has been denied to them.
The sensuality in their relationship is as breathtaking as painful is the aftermath of their mistakes. Even though their fate is well-known, I still suffered to see it through. The sorrow is immense as the writing engulfs you in emotion. Though there is also elation in completing this magnificent journey into the most enigmatic past. I promise you that reading this wonderful story is worth it. I now have a new series of complete stories to look forward to.
