MY OPINION
Harper is a
smart and driven woman. One thing I like about her is that she never bites her
tongue, and she also has a witty sense of humour. On the other hand, Max King,
her a**hole boss, is a hard businessman but also very reserved, he has an iron
fist around his privacy. Reasons enough to prompt lots of misunderstandings
between them that keep this at odds-relationship on its toes. They fight it,
they deny it, they try to put closeness on hold, but it creeps up on them
through the very appetizing enticement of hot desire.
I had fun
with this kind of dynamics. It was also enhanced by two elements that added
layers to the story. For instance, Amanda, the boss's daughter, who truly shows
off the best part of this man's personality. Whereas Harper has this family
issue with her father that connects really well with everything related to her admired
and later on hated boss.
The narrative
is good, well paced, with fun dialogues, plenty of heated encounters with both
characters challenging each other, and I had the impression that they really
got to know each other and fall in love.
The way that
business and personal life mingle to create emotional turmoil worked really
well for me. Both characters evolve through the contact with each other. The
dialogues are fun and help the scenes to create a unique feeling of a
relationship being built. Max's family, especially his daughter Amanda, blended
seamlessly in the couple's dynamics.
I really
liked Max and Harper, their strong points and their doubts. They were real and
appealing to me. Also, the beautifully passionate encounters didn't hurt at all
:-D The epilogue was a fun surprise too. Wonderful romance! I never tire of
this author's smart and fun stories.
