Literaria: Six ways to enjoy Ascension + giveaway

If you're excited about these features in a book, you'll enjoy ASCENSION, by A. S. Fenichel as much as I did.

I was very motivated to read this story. How can I resist a heroine who combats demons in London? It was too tempting. Actually, it's also a lot of kick-ass fun and romantic to boot. I enjoyed myself a lot getting to know the main couple. They are made for each other though they try to deny it through hell and beyond.

Why? She's a proper lady by day, but fights evil by night. The ton is none the wiser, so how can she face her fiancée when he comes back after four years of war and she's no longer the delicate flower he remembers?

Besides, she's intent on protecting him from supernatural danger and from losing his innocence about horrible monsters lurking in London. The best thing is that amid exciting fights against demons, elegant balls, and a mysterious plot from the dark side of nature, Belinda and the Earl of Tullering, Gabriel, ignite a forgotten passion between them. He's as determined to find out her secret as she is to keep it from him.

In the meantime, there are lots of steamy scenes, heartfelt declarations, ventures into the seedy corners of London, and mysteries to be solved at every turn.

About the characters, I liked that they slowly built a trust in each other out of respect and love. Belinda is noble and a warrior, Gabriel is loyal and in love. I appreciated that Bella is a free spirit, she knows freedom now, and cannot abide losing it. Part of her reluctance to accept Gabriel's proposal stems from that fear. The writing style is sometimes not rich enough. The author keeps repeating names, and many sentences start with a character's name so it doesn't help the flow.

In the last part of the novel, the demon conspiracy reveals itself in all its glory. Also, the romance reaches its peak. It was my favourite part because Belinda interacts with the demons not only by way of sword. It was very interesting. And I might say that it lays grounds for more stories to come. Good.
