Whatever the
reason, Jasmine is still struggling with her friend's crazy idea when the right
kind of temptation steps in to change her mind. And her body impulses.
From the very
start, I was captivated by the author's swift, witty and sexy narrative. She
sets the mood perfectly for this couple in the making. They're still young but
old enough to have had their bumps in the road. Jasmine is trying to gain back
her sense of self, her freedom to fee, but what she went through with her
cheating ex-fiancé weighs her down. Now, she's focusing on her career.
Ethan leads
the classic life of a single-forever man. Risk is part of his job, after all.
Something in his gut, though, desires a bit more of a connection. How they'll
accomplish what they need but think cannot have is what makes this story so
authentic, entertaining, and fulfilling.
Fate is
playing tricks on them. After that "one night!, they accidentally have to
spend two weeks rubbing shoulders at work. It was a lot of fun seeing Jasmine
squirm with longing, but denying herself the chance at an emotional connection.
On the other hand, Ethan was irritated at her behaviour but couldn't help
himself and her pull on him.
One extremely
funny scene involves flashy condoms. You don't want to miss that!
These
characters have real-life issues like not wanting to be betrayed again or
sparing a loved one the misery of losing a husband to war. I felt their doubt
and fear overlaid with the very human need to overcome them. Definitely, there
is a lot of pain, romance and heat in this story. I really enjoyed it, and I
think this author feels her characters deeply. She's paying a homage to brave
men and tough choices in love. Good job!
