My thoughts

Sexy and action packed, how could I say no to The Perfect Hostage? I was instantly attracted to the premise of the story. A woman in love with a special ops guy plans to kidnap him for the weekend for a hot, body-to-body operation?  Count me in!

This is such a satisfying read. Both John and Lucy are likable characters. They have gone through a lot in their lives. She craves a family as she grew up without a father, while John had no parents to guide him. They share a deep bond since he rescued her from a kidnapper in a previous novel. Throughout the novella, they come to realise they could find a home in each other. But to reach that precious goal, they have to fight lots of battles. John is hesitant about giving in to an emotional attachment due to his job. That doesn't prevent him from supporting Lucy when her newfound father and family seem to belittle her for being a French love child. I loved that about him. He really cares and it shows.

Half the story is devoted to their steamy weekend together and their emotions going as warm as their attraction. The other half is pure adrenaline with a bad guy showing up to stir things up. There's a lot of action in there, tension and fights. My goodness, I felt very sorry for John because he goes through hell again in order to escape that hard situation. Though Lucy does her part too which I liked a lot. And the ending is good and sweet as it should be.
