Let's go on a HOLIDATE

Hi, book buddies :-) This holiday romance has the cutest cover ever. Don't you agre? And the book is ready to be enjoyed, so let me tell you all about it.

MY OPINION

It might be a little early for a holiday romance, but I couldn’t help myself.

This author has created a cute, sweet romance that appeals to my most fervent Christmas spirit. It features musical oldies, festive clothes, pine trees, lit-up decorations, and traditions upheld in a community of families and local businesses. Even a perfect gingerbread latte. You can't go wrong with that 😉

The couple is made of antagonists. Candice is a little lady, feminine and determined to bring Christmas joy to everyone and funds to charity events. On her crosshairs, we find her opposite, a grumpy and stubborn workaholic who's lost his Christmas spirit and hates to waste his valuable time on unnecesary socializing.

The meet-cute is quite convoluted and absolutely crafty. I loved it so much! The setting, the bait, the twist and the outcome. Charlie and Candice engage in a tug-of-war of perspectives and social events that turns out to be sweet and heart-warming.

Their personalities may clash but also meld in surprisingly tender ways. I loved their outings together, the tree farm, the hectic season, the sweetness of slowly warming up to each other. The grumpy man starts to enjoy the sunny and compassionate company of this girl, and it really feels like a Hallmark movie.

I have to admit that I didn’t like Charlie's mother. That woman behaved like an emotional tornado. Luckily, this adorable couple brings out the best in each other and the Christmas events end up as successfully as their cute romance.

It's such a pretty story, the best in the series, and perfect to boost the last part of the year.

An all-new standalone contemporary holiday romance by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Monica Murphy is LIVE!

Candice Gaines loves Christmas. Not only does she bask in the twinkling lights, sing Christmas carols and go crazy with the decorations, she’s also in the giving spirit, donating much of her time and wealth to various charities in the local area.
Charlie Sullivan despises Christmas. Though it keeps his family afloat, considering they own Sullivan Family Christmas Tree Farm, the main provider for Christmas trees on the Monterey peninsula. He’d much rather work among the trees versus have to deal with people.
But Charlie’s parents are taking on more philanthropic projects—and as their oldest child, they want him to be their official public representative. He just has to play nice and convince everyone he’s not a total holiday hater.
When Charlie’s mom asks Candice to accompany him to a variety of holiday parties and events, she reluctantly agrees. She thinks Charlie is a big ol’ Grinch, but is determined to change his mindset and help him spread Christmas cheer. Charlie finds Candice too chatty, too sweet, too much. Do people like her really exist?
Why yes, yes they do. The more time they spend together—along with a few kisses under the mistletoe—the more they start to like each other. Hopefully Charlie can convince Candice he doesn’t have a heart that’s two sizes too small before the ball drops on New Year’s Eve.

A stand-alone, contemporary romance.

I go chasing after Charlie, thankful he hasn’t hopped back on that ATV and torn out of here. He’s headed straight for the giant red building, and I follow behind, having to pick up my step since one of his long strides equals about three of mine. He’s just so stinkin’ tall.
And handsome.
And gruff.
And he smells good. Have I mentioned that? He smells like a pine tree, of course, and his scent is mouth-wateringly delicious.
Ugh. I hate myself sometimes.
He pushes open the door of the building almost violently, sending it swinging wide, and I sneak in behind him, causing him to turn and practically snarl at me when he realizes I’m standing in front of him.
But I forget all about his snarl when I see how enchanting this room is. It’s not an office, but an actual store, filled to the brim with holiday decorations and knickknacks for sale. Candles are burning—I can smell cinnamon and spice wafting in the air. The scent of the real pine trees laden with ornaments standing in the room also lingers, and I breathe deep, closing my eyes for a moment so I can take it all in.
When I open my eyes, it’s to find Charlie standing there, his hands on his hips, his brow lowered. “Are you okay? That head injury still flaring up and giving you trouble?”
I roll my eyes. “No, you idiot. I’m enjoying the festive atmosphere.”
Oh, that was mean. I shouldn’t have said that.
But I don’t think he even noticed.
I slowly turn in a circle, pure delight flowing through my veins. I don’t know what to look at first, it’s all so beautiful. And there are layers upon layers of decorations. On the walls, cluttering shelves and tabletops, overflowing giant baskets. And of course there are the trees. They almost sag with their bounty of sparkling ornaments and twinkling lights. It would probably take me hours to explore it all, and I’m dying to start my exploration right at this very moment. “This store is so adorable!”
“My sister Victoria runs it.” He glances over at the counter where the register sits, but no one’s there. “I don’t know where she’s at, though. Maybe you could talk to her about—whatever it is you want to talk about.”
No way is he pushing this agenda onto his sister. Isabel wants Charlie to do this, and no one else.
“We’ve wasted the past five minutes with you huffing and puffing and refusing to speak to me.” I reach into my large bag and pull the folder out I wanted to show him. “Give me ten minutes. That’s all I need to talk about what we’re going to do over the next few weeks.”
He grimaces. Sighs. Tugs the cap off his head, all that gorgeous hair spilling across his forehead, and my fingers literally itch at the chance to push it out of his eyes.
But I restrain myself.
Barely.

Save the Date to read this cute book

Hi, book buddies :-) How are you doing? Ready for a romantic and unique reading experience? Then, come and meet SAVE THE DATE, by Monica Murphy.

MY OPINION

Cute and cozy. I fell in love with the cover of this book, and having read a few stories by MM already, I knew I'd be tempted for sure.

Save the Date blends fun, chic and slow-burn romance. Mostly from the heroine's POV, it's a sweet second chance romance that rekindles in the most unexpected circumstances.
It may start at a stationery shop specialized in wedding invites, yet it spices up with false appearances, luxurious lifestyle, first kisses and a plot twist that ensures this couple gets their happy bells tolling.

I enjoyed every scene where workaholic, handsome Alex and honest, nice Caroline interact. Chemistry works fine even in very slow motion.

I liked meeting Caroline's friends as they are so supportive of her and good candidates for future stories of their own. The only downside is that every event was rehashed a few times over and seemed a bit repetitive.

My favourite part is when Alex proposes a wild plan to Caroline that sets off a real change between them. It's romantic to the brim, dreamy and totallly instagrammable :-D

Yet it also encompasses a subtle, true message that it's not only about finding a man in life, but enjoying life as it is, as a woman who knows herself and is happy with her own choices. I found Caroline's story charming and sweet, a bit disconnected maybe because of two quite distinct parts in the plot, but altogether romantic, modern and appealing.

I think it has even a good potential for more chic adventures about the bunch of friends, and I wouldn't say no to another treat like this.

ENJOY AN EXCERPT :-)

I head straight for the pickup counter, where I see my skinny vanilla latte waiting for me, my name written on the side of the cup in Stella’s familiar scrawl. Without hesitation I grab it, inhaling deeply before I take a sip. Just a tiny sip so I can savor it. I close my eyes for a second, maybe two, and when I open them, I find a guy standing there.
Watching me. And he’s not just any guy. He’s cute. Wait, no. Not cute. He’s…hot. Dark hair. Blue eyes. Wearing a suit that fits him perfectly. I know just from looking at the fabric that it’s custom. Expensive. He’s smiling at me. And I’m scowling at him in return because the caffeine hasn’t quite hit my bloodstream yet, so I’m not on top of my game. “You looked like you were having a moment.” His voice is deep. Rich. His face…vaguely familiar? I stand a little straighter. Take another sip of my coffee as I contemplate the man in front of me, because for some reason I still can’t come up with anything to say. Listen, I always have something to say. But this guy. This gorgeous, well-dressed maybe-stranger, is leaving me a little… Dumbstruck? Huh. “That moment you were just having. With your coffee,” he continues, gesturing at the cup I’m clutching in both of my hands, like it’s my baby. Which this morning—every morning—it is. “She loves coffee,” Stella says from behind me. Glancing over my shoulder, I give her a look, one that says shush. “I can see that.” The amusement in his voice is obvious. He thinks it’s funny. The sacred moment I was having with my latte made him smile. I wouldn’t mind coming up with other ways to make him smile. Whoa. Where did that thought come from? “What I want to know is, how did you get such special treatment?” I blink at him like I’m an uncomprehending idiot. “Excuse me?” “Well, I’ve been here for the last fifteen minutes. First, standing in line.” He gestures at the line of customers that trails out the door. “And now, waiting for my order.” Guilt fills me. Just a tiny bit. Sweet Dreams Café is the most popular bakery and coffee shop in Carmel-by-the-Sea. All the tourists love it. All the locals love it too. It’s been in Stella’s family for generations. “Yet you skip past the line, walk straight in here and grab your ready-made drink within a few seconds of your arrival. Do you have a Fast Pass?” A brow lifts, and I’m hit with a quiver. Like Cupid just drew back his bow and shot that arrow right in my heart. Or perhaps that arrow struck me in, ahem, other places. Who knew a brow lift could be so sexy?

You want a man who fights for you

Hi, book buddies :-) I love romance novels that are happy and witty, and LAYLA HAGEN works wonders with both traits. The Connors family series has a new couple falling in love. Check it out and enjoy it!

FIGHTING FOR YOU

by
Layla Hagen

MY OPINION

A delicious read to indulge in.

This is the kind of romance that happens at a natural pace. No hate or offensive banter like in enemies-to-lovers stories. This is the way you'd choose to fall in love. Inevitably and pleasurably ;-)
The author manages to add a fresh spin to Brooke and Jace's relationship, as this is part of an ongoing series about different couples, while maintaining the lovely traits of humour, warmth and flirty hotness.

I admit to reading this in one sitting. And I loved every page, every sinful smile from Jace, and every feeling that kept growing between the two main characters. I also cherished this couple. He's very sweet and utterly gorgeous. All in from the start, he pushes a little bit and tempts a very job-aware woman who's been burned before both professionally and personally. That plays a very interesting and intense twist at the end which was smartly hinted at throughout the plot.

It has a definitive sport background as he's a soccer team player and she works to earn the team sponsorships, but it was never overwhelming or boring. It really blended in well with the fun and passionate interacions between the haracters. I really fell for Jace's supportive side. He completely reflects the title of the novel as he fights for Brooke with all his heart. He fights to have her for himself, but also to defend her and commend her at work. He sees her value on all accounts. That was so good.

As always, the Connors are fantastic when they gather as a family. I truly enjoyed this book and I never plan to stop reading any of this author's books. They always warm my heart and tickle my romantic and funny sides.

Favourite Quote:
I loved that she enjoyed the things in my life that I valued.

About FIGHTING FOR YOU by Layla Hagen – available June 18th
Jace Connor has received many titles in his career, and enjoyed them all.
Although, he's working on changing the last one. There's more to Jace
than the media portrays—a man who loves his tight-knit family, being his
nieces' and nephews' favorite uncle.
The reformed party-boy is now steering clear of anything that could
blemish his reputation. But when the coach's gorgeous daughter is hired
on as the team's new sponsorship manager,  keeping on the straight and
narrow becomes impossible. Her warm and bubbly personality coupled
with her sexy-as-sin body makes her irresistible.
Brooke Derringer wants to prove to everyone that she wasn't hired due to
her personal connections. She's determined to keep things strictly
business and focus only on work. She learned the hard way that the office
isn't the place to make friends.
But a certain smoking hot--and bossy--soccer player is determined to
change her mind. Surprising her with clandestine dinners and late-night
gym sessions, Jace is inescapable.
For the first time in his life, Jace wants more. He wants the whole package
… with the one woman he can't have. But Jace doesn't let that deter him.
He's determined to fight for her. And he will.
